The National Scouting Museum preserves, collects, organizes, and displays
Scouting's treasuresdocumenting the movement's unique influence on American
culture and the lives of more than 110 million people.
- Norman Rockwell Art Gallery
- View the world's largest collection of original Norman
Rockwell Scouting artwork, as well as works by Joseph
Csatari, Remington Schuyler, and others. The diorama includes a display
examining Rockwell's creative process.
- BSA History Theater
- Enjoy an exciting, 15-minute presentation on the story of Scouting, from its
roots in England to its modern-day presence, on our 180-degree panoramic
theater screen.
- Scouting History and Memorabilia Exhibit
- Discover Scouting's origins with an introduction to the movement's founders
and several famous Scouters. The exhibit also features an extensive collection
of Scouting memorabilia featuring the private collection of Harry D.
Thorsen.
- National Scout Jamboree Exhibit
- Experience the national jamboree through the "Jamboree Flyover" by taking
the controls of a virtual helicopter and flying over Fort A. P. Hill. Upon
"landing," explore jamboree activities ranging from rappelling to canoeing
to radio broadcasting.
- Scout Reservation Trail
- Enter the Scout Reservation Trail, where the journey of living the Scouting
life begins. From Cub Scouting and Venturing to the Order of the Arrow and
the Eagle Scout Award, visitors are invited to participate in numerous
interactive exhibits while enjoying a spectacular collection of Scouting
artifacts.
- Cub Scout Adventure World
- Race against your friends at the six-lane pinewood derby track and experience
Fort Fun - Laser Shooting Gallery. Learn about the Cub Scout program
and discover its intriguing history.
- Scout Storytelling Area
- Enter the forest and take a seat by the glowing fire. You'll be treated
to traditional Scout campfire stories from our animatronic
Scoutmaster.
- Campground Scoutcraft Area
- Compare typical campsites from the early 1900s, the 1950s, and today.
Practice tying knots, identifying animal tracks, and learning other
outdoor skills.
- Gamebike Adventure
- Race your fellow Scouts in an exciting interactive video game
experience.
- Venturing Values Cave
- Go spelunking in the Venturing Cave, where you'll find an interactive
video about making wise choices. Test your first aid knowledge and view
artifacts that illustrate the history and various features of the
Venturing program.
- Order of the Arrow
- Learn about Scouting's national honor society through historical
memorabilia and a special film in the mini-theater. Test your Order
of the Arrow knowledge by playing our computerized Jeopardy-style
game.
- High-Adventure Exhibit
- Using the Passport Map, learn about the activities available at
high-adventure bases nationwide, including Philmont, Northern Tier,
and the Florida Sea Base, the three national high-adventure
bases.
- Eagle Scout/Values of Scouting
- Discover what it means to obtain the highest Scouting rank. An
interactive display of 1911 merit badge requirements as well as
exhibits featuring council shoulder strips, religious and honor
medals, and other artifacts provide an overview of the Scouting
program and highlight some of its prominent members.
- Scout Shop
- Find the perfect gifts for yourself and others. The full-service
Scout shop includes museum mementos.
- Canteen Vending Area
- Relax and enjoy a snack. The area includes vending machines,
microwave, and an ice machine.
- High-Adventure Fishing Experience
- Try to catch a fish on our fishing simulator. You can choose from salt
or freshwater fish, beginner to advanced levels.
