New Exhibits
2006 Season
Attention Friends and Visitors
The National Scouting Museum exhibit gallery has been refurbished for the
2006 museum season. Many visitors comment that they would like to see more Scout
memorabilia in the exhibit gallery. We take your comments seriously and have added
more artifacts to several of our exhibit cases.
2006 Exhibit Gallery Changes
- Three Scouts in Africa
- A new exhibit has been installed in the museum's High Adventure area.
In 1928, three Scouts were selected to participate in an African safari
sponsored by the BSA. Artifacts belonging to one of the Scouts, David Martin,
are on display. Photographs taken by the Scouts in Africa tell the story of
this once in a lifetime adventure.
- Focus on Merit Badges: Textiles
- The Focus on Merit Badge station can be found in the Eagle Scout area
of the museum. The Textiles Merit Badge is featured and visitors can utilize
their detective skills by identifying various types of fabric weaves.
- Make a Friendship Bracelet
- Cub Scouts can make their very own friendship bracelet here in Cub World.
Keep it for yourself or share it with your best friend!
- Woodbadge
- Found in the Boy Scout Storytelling area of the museum, this new exhibit
tells the story of Woodbadge. Artifacts from the museum's collection are
featured and include patrol flags and even ashes from the first U.S. Woodbadge
course that belonged to "Green Bar Bill" Hillcourt.
